Yeah we know, we've played some LP Standards on other shows but not all of the original series from the very first in 1952 to the last SG style in 1963. We have them all and we play them all back to back sprinkling in all the snappy patter you expect and maybe some you don't. Warning: we did have to use the Magic Sword Canes to go back in time again but we're back now and doing just fine.

Wolfe at Wolfetone Electronics has been working on a cover for a P90 pickup, any P90 pickup that will work with a humbucking guitar with no modifications and he sent us a prototype. That's right, now your LP Standards can have P90's if you love that sound as much as we do. Still a 3D printed prototype, D & P take it for a spin along with Wolfetone Mean and Meaner P90s and compare them to other pickups and an original '54 LP which is always fun. Wolfe is doing a Kickstarter for this idea too, check it out on his web site. Now let's get going!

Doug and Pat demo pickups from RC Pickups, Tamm Custom Pickups, Sanford Magnetics and Tyson Tone Lab and compare them to an original 1958 Les Paul Standard named "Oscar". Independent winders are making great stuff and willing to compare what they do to an original PAF LP which is kind of refreshing. Also, introducing "Chasing Oscar", a feast for the ears if you know what we mean. Yeah!

Ah yes, the P90, the venerable old single coil pickup from Gibson. Just the ugly, old noisy stepsister to the PAF's or an ultimate tone machine all it's own? It's time to revisit the P90's from the fifties as well as find out what the boutique pickup winders like Lollar, Tyson, RC and Sanford Magnetics have to offer and how they compare. Doug and Pat take you back to a time when even the practice amps were high quality: Fender tweed Champ and Princeton, Black face Champ, Gibson GA5 Les Paul Jr, Les Paul TV and the Epiphone fire breather known as the Pacemaker and lastly to England for the original Vox AC4. How does the reissue Marshall model 1974 18 watt combo sound compared to the original from the sixties?
